The Life of Rasu 83: My New Addiction
- I get to go visit my besties Elisa and britty.
- I get to go to my besties 18th, Shan!!!!
- I get to go to my other friends 18th, Merran!!!
- Im on holidays from uni (i just had my last class today. Sure i got some tests in 2 weeks, but they are nufin)
- I've got alot of parties and drinking events planned (including tonight)
So as you can see, I'm going to be very busy. I have alot of homework and planning for next semester to do aswell, but atm I'm a bit distracted. I've discovered a new hobby, and that hobby is Guitar Hero.
Now I know what your saying 'Ryan, NOOO don't get sucked into another video game'. Well i say F**K you, i really really enjoy it, and its actually a load of fun, and then only people who dont like guitar hero, are those who havent played guitar hero (or those who just dont like video games).
Its great, im not the best at the game, but already i feel like a minor celebrity rock star, jamming on stage with the grim reaper and slash (yes im serious) as i rock out to 'When you were young' by the killers. LOL
Also lately, i've discovered what could be called a mini-blog on facebook, called Notes. I came accross it because one of my friends on facebook, Simona, was writing some really interested articles about human rights and stuff like that in here mini-blog. Some of the most interesting stuff ive read on the internet in a while (including the stuff in my blog, lol), So i wrote some notes of my own, and while they arnt so political, they are on issues annoying me in the past 2 weeks:
Wake Up Labrador!
I can' believe this crap! For those who don't know, I work in a video shop in Labrador, called Ezy DVD. We hire out movies and sell movies aswell.Lately, we have slowly been getting a library of 'Blu-Ray' movies in, since we have to keep up with the latest technology. I myself don't have a blu-ray player (yet), but obviously, like normal people, i know what Blu-Ray is.
For those who don't, A) Whats wrong with you? and B) its high-definition dvd.Now in the past 2 weeks, i have had 30 people (and by 30, i mean 30 INDIVIDUAL customers) who have hired out Blu-ray movies, and then returned them, complaining that they don't work. I ask them whether the disc is scratched, and they simply exclaim "it wouldnt work in my dvd player". I ask them are they playing it on a blu-ray player, and then they say "what the hell is blu-ray?"
For F**K sake, not only is the box they hired it out on plastered with 'BLU-RAY' stickers, or the case they got it from different then a normal dvd case, do we literally have to f**king spell it out for customers. Now I don't know if this happens in other video stores, but it's really getting on my nerves in Labrador.
If customers would literally take HALF A SECOND to look at the dvd they picked up, or the case they got the dvd from, then this problem would be solved. Maybe its a commentary on how lazy basic society is getting, or maybe Labrador just don't follow the world and know that technology is growing.... or maybe those 30 people were just morons.
Game Addicitions
Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 12:26pm
Does anyone notice the large number of people being addicted to certain video games lately? I am ofcourse one of them, having earlier in my life gone through the World of Warcraft phase, the Tibia phase, the Halo phase, and i'm right now currently in the Guitar Hero phase. I personally can't put the damm thing down, its highly fun and entertaining.I hate how some look down upon video game addictions.
Ok, there are some bad cases now and then, but some good can come out of it aswell. I use exhibit A) my cousin Brad, who is grossly-addicted to World of Warcraft. He plays the game for around 20 hours a day. At first, this was horrible, as he had no job, and wasn't really doing anything with his life.
Now, a couple months on, he is getting engaged to a very lovely girl, who he met online in the game. They are both extremely happy, and he has a good paying job aswell. He still plays the game religiously ofcourse.I understand this is just one example, and theres plenty of counter-argument examples that one could produce.
My note isnt to decide whether game addictions are right or wrong. My advice is to let people make their own decisions. If they want to play games all their life, then they obviously enjoy the game and it makes them happy. tell me, what is wrong with that! Let video gamers play their games, and make their own choices about their lives.
So yeah, thats it for today. i gotta get a rest before i go out drinking tonioght with richard and this random guy who i don't know and personally don't like. lol. Ah well, atleast it will be fun.
